The Regional Education and Skills Program is a BHP funded initiative that enables students to receive a financial contribution towards their tuition fees for a course of their choosing (refer to attachment for the list of eligible course types).
Funding support provided
Students studying an eligible non-Bachelor degree course are eligible for funding up to $15,000 and students enrolled in an eligible Bachelor's degree are eligible for up to $24,000. Additionally, if you are approved to participate in the Program, you may also be eligible for a resources grant of up to $1,000 to support the purchase of study tools.
Eligibility for the program
Candidates will be assessed against criteria to determine eligibility, including the field of study and how the candidate will use the course to support their career progression and local community needs.
Eligible students need to be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident and currently reside in one of the following areas (and demonstrate proof of residence):
· Bowen Basin and Mackay in Queensland
· Upper Spencer Gulf and Roxby Downs in South Australia
· The Pilbara and Goldfields regions in Western Australia
· The Upper Hunter Region in New South Wales
To be eligible for this program, students will need to provide evidence of being enrolled or in the process of enrolling in a course that commenced or is due to commence in 2023.
